What is mindminder?

Mindminder's aim is to extend an independent, healthy and dignified later life as far as possible whilst providing discrete arms-length reassurance to family and carers through cost-effective technology.

Mindminder supervises users' daily routines via engaging voice-led reminders and prompts which can be enhanced with personalised anecdotes, memories, reminders and other carer-defined dialogue to provide a familiar and dynamic interactive source of stimulus to a user.

Using mindminder

mindminder has two key elements for success; Carers, and Users. The unique nature of mindminder means that Carers can dynamically configure each User's mindminder experience from the comfort of their own home or workplace (or even on holiday!).

Carers

Carers use mindminder's intuitive dashboards to add or remove dialogue content and schedule conversations to suit a User's needs. minminder initiated scheduled conversations with the User and, where User replies are collected these are made available back to the Carer in the dashboards which are available 24/7. Dashboards enable trending of aspects such as diet, sleep quality etc and simple mood indicators, together with positive confirmation that prompted actions were undertaken, without the need for intrusive or awkward Carer-User conversations or physical visits.

Users

Users place a suitable device (phone, tablet, laptop etc.) in an appropriate place in their environment and connect to mindminder.
In normal operation, mindminder provides a customisable "clock" display to provide orientation of time of day, date and day of the week. However when scheduled by a Carer, dialogue starts; initially asking the User if a conversation is convenient, and then discussing elements customised on a per-conversation basis.
For example in the morning a User may be simply reminded to make sure the curtains have been opened, later in the morning a check that the user has had breakfast and prompted to have a drink to stay hydrated, mid-afternoon a check on mood, and later to take medication before bed and to close the curtains again. More explicit tasks such as timely preparation for an appointment, putting out and recovering the bins on bin-day, remembering to call a friend or relative periodically can all be customised by Carers and enabled/disabled in real-time as required..

Carer: Configure Content

Create and schedule personalised reminders, rhetorical content such as anecdotes and words of encouragement, or select from mindminder's existing bank of standard content such as interesting facts for cognitive stimulation

mindminder: Dialogue

mindminder then engages with a User via conversation. The character of mindminder can be aligned with User familiarity such that male, female, accented and speed of speech can each be tailored to obtain best engagement.

User: Interact

Users only need to be within speaking/hearing distance of mindminder; it's completely hands-free. User answers are prompted only where relevant and if inconvenient, scheduled conversations can be deferred by Users.

Features

mindminder has been designed around a simple, accessible voice experience.

Voice-Led User Experience

No need for worrying about typing or interacting with buttons and menus, the User's experience is completely hands-off with all interaction via conversation

Customizable

Content is fully customisable; an engaging blend of welfare and wellbeing questions, personalised anecdotes, reminders and cognitive stimulation elements can all be introduced into the conversation. Even the character of mindminder's voice itself can be customised to the User's preference of persona.
Customisation is done via the Carer dashboard and User content and configuration can be changed fully remotely.

Personalised

mindminder isn't just a "Reminder" app; it's designed to integrate into a User's lifestyle from dawn to dusk; Carers can schedule specific content at appropriate times in the day - for example checking that a User has eaten by late morning, has remembered to close the curtains, or even remembered that it's the day to put the bins out - all in support of an independent but supervised living experience.

Designed for Compatibility

mindminder isn't dependent on expensive, dedicated technology and has been designed to operate on mobile phones, tablets and laptops alike. All that is required is an internet connection and a browser to get a User set up and using mindminder within minutes.

Why mindminder?

As our population lives longer into old age than any other generation before the need to support independent living is essential; mindminder uniquely allows arms-length supervision and discrete monitoring of friends, family members and patients without intrusive, and costly, calls and home visits,. This sustains the concept of independence and user dignity whilst providing cost-effective peace-of-mind for carers and care organisations.

Routine Awareness

Use mindminder to enhance existing independence by keeping users time-aware and establishing effective routines; reminding users to drink regularly, eat at appropriate times and to do tasks like putting the bins out, opening/closing curtains, or even going to bed at suitable times.

Physical & Mental Wellbeing

Use mindminder to prompt users to move away from a sedentary lifestyle and do modest exercise,
mindminder can also break the monotony of an otherwise receive-only lifestyle by adding conversation and positive reinforcement into daily life

Data-led Reassurance

Where appropriate, mindminder collates a user feedback on mood, diet, and confirmation that activities have been completed. as/when prompted.
User feedback is accessed via Carer dashboards and can be used to inform carers of the welfare and wellbeing of a user and inform care & support conversations where appropriate.
